On October 16, 2015 Asbury Park Middle School students were able to chat with the students from Ghana once again via a video conference for Ghana project session 2.

GHANA PROJECT SESSION 2

Darryl Bahs, Twia Goss, and Viviene Barr were present during the student exchange. This time the students from Ghana opened up the session with a song about religion and creation while the APMS students listened.

After the song was over, an APMS student answered one of the questions posed by a student from Ghana which was how did Asbury Park get its name. The APMS student explained that James A. Bradley, a broom maker from New York City, founded Asbury Park in 1871 by paying ninety-thousand dollars for oceanfront property. From there Bradley named the area after Francis Asbury. Francis Asbury was the Methodist Episcopal Church’s first bishop in America.

After the explanation of how Asbury Park got its name, students and teachers from Ghana and APMS introduced themselves to each other and discussed their hobbies.

The above picture was from the first session of Ghana’s news report.
