Lower Manhattan, NY – Eight people are confirmed dead after a pickup truck plowed into a crowd on a Manhattan bike path on the West Side. Authorities say, the 29-year-old driver exited his vehicle with fake guns on Tuesday afternoon and yelled “Allah Akbur”.
The terror attack happened around 3:05pm when the man with a flatbed pickup truck from Home Depot plowed into 23 people on the path killing eight and injuring dozens. Authorities say the driver was driving the wrong way on the West Side Highway.
The suspect continued driving south and hit another car, then got out and displayed “imitation firearms,” police said.
The man then shouted, “Allahu Akbar,” according to police sources. According to some witnesses, the driver rammed his truck into a school bus.
The suspect was chased by police who shot him in the leg and arrested him. He was then taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities said they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the attack.
